How to bypass control systems?

Tricks used by field employees

Let's talk about field employees: some of them like and know how to bypass control systems. Let´s also discuss about digital tools that will help managers involved in the management of sales force, prevent violations of regulations.

How to bypass the control system?

Shop from the couch
An employee starts a visit in a mobile application from home, enters fake balances and forms and makes order based on them.
Unreliable data will get into the system; the outlet will remain with empty shelves or will be "overfilled".

Tool for manager
The TECHNOPEAK/Agent business application has a built-in GPS monitoring mechanism. Fixing coordinates can be made a mandatory step, and visits without coordinates are not counted and not paid for.

Shop on the way
The employee starts the visit at the point of sale, fixes the coordinates and leaves. The fact of the visit in the system is confirmed, but the work at the point of sale was not carried out or was not done completely.
Tool for manager
The TECHNOPEAK/Agent business application has a built-in GPS monitoring mechanism. Fixing coordinates can be made a mandatory step, and visits without coordinates are not counted and not paid for.

Substitution of coordinates
The employee installs a GPS sensor emulator and indicates the fake coordinates of the outlet (and he is back at the couch).

Tool for manager
Technopeak/Agent will not start if it detects software for replacing coordinates in the smartphone's memory. If you encounter a substitution of coordinates, it means that you do not have mobile trading. Check if the developers of your mobile app are updating the protection.

Poor technique
Some field employees could be unlucky: battery runs out, network is not available, GPS sensor turns off... Technical failures can be a cover for "shop from the couch" or "shop on the way" schemes. The supervisor is not able to check every visit and the company cannot imagine the scale of the disaster.
Tool for manager
Technopeak/Agent is able to prohibit visits if the employee is more than 200 meters away from the point. A technical crash? Wrong coordinates? Let him get an alert from a supervisor. This information will be recorded in the system for a separate check.

Perfect shelves
There is also a technique against photo confirmation: you can take several photos of the perfect shelf and attach them to visits. The shelf is a mess, but the agent will receive a bonus.

Tool for manager
The Technopeak/Agent app has its own camera. It does not allow you to attach pictures from the phone's memory and additionally attaches data about the point of sale, coordinates, shooting time, etc. to the photo.

Random Number Generator
Sales force collects important information for the manufacturer: positioning, shelf share, price tags, price promo, placement of additional points of sale and so on. The human factor is often involved here: employees are lazy, take numbers “out from thin air”, hurry up or make mistakes. Incorrect data gets into the system again.
Tool for manager
Request photo confirmation of completed tasks. For a merchandiser, it can be a photo of the shelf "before" and "after", for an auditor — a photo of a competitor's layout, etc.

Creative personalities
These cases are quite common, so our mobile application is able to prevent them. But there are cases when the software is powerless.
We have met field employees who:

· Wrapped the tablet in foil so that the GPS signal would not pass;
· Carried a perfect promo stand in the trunk and photographed it in different stores;
· Took a photo of the reference layout on a tablet, and then took a proto of it from the tablet screen with a smartphone.

Such things are revealed sooner or later anyway - with a thorough check of visits or personally by a supervisor on the route.

According to FMCG market representatives, the effect is brought only by system tracking the "field” and a quick response to precedents. The Technopeak/Agent solution has accumulated extensive experience in preventing fraud over 10 years.
This allows you to solve about 96% of possible problems. And the remaining 4% should be investigated and turned into a growth point for the control system.
